SIFE Wisdom

Status: (Current), Launched Semester one, 2011

Need
After graduating from AUT University, many of our alumni were still passionate working alongside SIFE AUT to help develop individuals and businesses in the community. But due to their newfound employment, postgraduate studies and other commitments, many alumni weren’t able to devote as much of their time anymore.

Project Description
A handful of current SIFE students and alumni formed the SIFE Wisdom project team whose focus was to establish the SIFE New Zealand Alumni and formalise a process that will allow all SIFE NZ students to continue giving back even after they graduate. In addition to this, SIFEwisdom also took on the responsibility of revamping the SIFE AUT website.

Objective
To publish a up -to-date website for SIFE AUT, and to facilitate an alumni for SIFE students throughout New Zealand.

Impact

  • SIFE New Zealand teams will be able to retain more knowledge and information about projects as they develop and are handed over each semester
  • Having a database of alumni contact information could make it easier for current SIFE students to seek out sponsorship or contact details for potential sponsors used in the past
  • Current SIFE students and alumni will be able to build their professional networks by having access to this rich database of like-minded individuals
  • Current SIFE students can greatly improve each sustainable project by building on the feedback given to them by those alumni members who have worked to lay the foundations of their projects
  • In regards to the development of the SIFE AUT website, SIFE AUT are able to reach a wider audience and spread the message about who they and why they exist which is great for recruitment purposes

Sustainability
Before handing over the SIFE AUT website to the Executive team, SIFE Wisdom have committed to running a training session to ensure the appropriate people are aware of how to manage the content.

SIFE Wisdom will continue their work with the SIFE NZ Alumni initiative. As part of their project, they will also develop a strategy that will ensure the alumni is managed fairly by every participating SIFE New Zealand team.  Documents will also be developed and handed over to each SIFE New Zealand team to ensure members are aware of what resources they have available, what resources need to be managed or maintained on a regular basis and how the alumni will operate.
